Extended Day ABA
Westwood’s Extended Day program is seeking an ABA trained Tutor to work with a student in a 1:1 capacity during the Extended Day program at Westwood Public Schools.
This position is: Wednesdays from 3pm-6pm and Fridays from 3pm-6pm.
Availability during February and April Massachusetts public school vacation weeks is required.
The hourly pay rate is based on education and experience and ABA training/experience.
The ideal candidate has ABA training and or is a registered behavior technician.
The Westwood Extended Day Program provides a daily opportunity for children to be creative, to stretch their muscles, and to explore and experience the world around them. Children participate in a variety of activities including arts & crafts, dramatic play, group games and sports, cooking and science. Physical recreation is offered daily indoors and/or outdoors. Quiet space for reading and homework is provided daily.
The Extended Day staff offers a variety of personal experiences, interests and talents, and the ability to convey a sense of caring and respect for children. The staff strives to meet the individual needs, abilities and interests of each child, to contribute to the social growth of the children by fostering cooperative and responsible attitudes, and to create a supportive environment in which children can learn to make good choices and to become considerate and contributing citizens.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide assistance that enables students to access Extended Day activities.
- Support and reinforce communication and social skills.
- Support and reinforce positive behaviors.
- Supervise students in small and large group settings.
- Maintain visual surveillance and implement all bolting/lost child policies with fidelity.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience with school-aged children required.
- Demonstrated commitment to celebrating diversity, pursuing equity, and promoting integration.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification preferred.
- Experience with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and potentially experience with children who use alternative methods of communication

JOB ENVIRONMENT
Work takes place in a fast paced school environment including offices, auditorium, gym, cafeteria, hallways and outdoors (playground and fields).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires sufficient vision to read printed documents and view detail on a computer screen. Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching as well as carrying and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
Must be able to move quickly if needed in order to maintain visual surveillance and implement all bolting/lost child policies with fidelity.
